Denton ISD’s fine arts programs have earned recognition throughout the region, state, and nation. Here are some of the notable honors Denton ISD has received for excellence in arts education.

- “Exemplary District for Theatre Education” by the Texas Educational Theatre Association
- “District of Distinction” by the Texas Art Education Association
Along with developing skills in the arts, students in Denton ISD’s fine arts programs develop creativity, confidence, perseverance, focus, problem solving, and collaboration skills they can carry with them into any field of study or career. Studies show that fine arts students are more likely to excel in school and score higher on the SAT than students not enrolled in Fine Arts. Whether pursuing a degree in the arts or not, involvement in Fine Arts can help pay for college. In 2023-24, 52 Denton ISD graduating seniors were awarded Fine Arts scholarships totaling $8.8 million.
